The property adjoins the South West Coast Path, the longest national trail in Britain, that stretches 613 miles around the South West peninsula. The nearest town is Bude which offers a small shopping centre, supermarkets, banks, an indoor leisure pool, ten-pin bowling, outdoor activities including tennis and golf, a canal with walk along towpath, cafes and restaurants.

There are several adventure parks for families, and for the adults a number of National Trust properties, as well as the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Additional sporting opportunities include windsurfing on nearby lakes and reservoirs; canoeing on the Bude canal; golf courses at Bude, Holsworthy and Camelford; sea fishing trips; riding and trekking from local stables. There are local adventure companies offering courses and tuition in surfing, windsurfing, canoeing, etc.
